Children's Products
What are some of the products you are particulary fond of for your children? Are there any toys they especially like and seem to learn a lot from during play? Are there diaper or bath products that really work well for them? Any gizmos or gadgets that really make the difference in your days with your kids? Please let us know.

TARGET DIAPERS--I honestly can't tell the difference between these and the Huggies or Pampers I bought for my first son, and they are much more reasonably priced. Yay, Target!

If your child has eczema (skin condition causing patches of severe dry skin that can be painful, itchy, red, and scaly), you have got to ask your doctor about ELIDEL. It's a prescription product, but it is such a miracle worker in our house. We had tried everything from baby lotion to Aquaphor, and nothing seemed to make a difference. Using Elidel a couple times a day cleared it right up. Now, we use it just at the first sign of a flare-up, and it's under control in a couple of days. AMAZING stuff!

If your little one sucks on his hands and makes them all red and raw, you should seriously consider giving a brand of lanolin a try. It's usually marketed as a nursing product, but that's what's genius about it. You know that if it's safe to use on your breasts while nursing, it's perfectly safe for those little hands your baby loves to suck on. It does a great job of sealing out the slobber while having the added benefit of being completely safe for an area that's frequently sucked on. Thanks to Elizabeth V. for that tip!

I highly suggest the Fisher-Price Learn Through Music System for toddlers. There has been many a road trip that was more peaceful with our little guy because of this product. It's super easy for them to play with by themselves and very interactive so that it holds their attention well. Plus, the activity cartridges feature all their favorite characters. Go, Fisher-Price!

Boxes. Last year for Christmas I took a plain old box with handles that was easy to crawl in and out of. I found it at Costco. I knew my youngest grandson would get more toys than any normal child needs, so I painted the box in bright colors with poster paint. I stuck glow in the dark stars, moons and other shapes to the outside. I tied or somehow attached inexpensive baby toys to the handles. I personalized it by painting, "I am a Keaton in the Box! See me jump!" on it. He absolutely loved it; he was about 2 then.

My infant received the Laugh and Learn Learning Home by Fisher-Price. At 7 months and nearly 4 years, both of my boys put a lot of time in with this toy. It's basically a playhouse front, so it takes a lot less space than the traditional four-sided models. But, it has a lot more learning activities than any other model I've seen. It's certainly a big hit with our little ones!

I am totally serious when I say this. All of my grandkids love it - almost 3 through almost 12. You purchase an old couch that you don't care about getting beat up or the springs dying or whatever. You put it somewhere in your home where there is space. You take all the pillows, blankets and anything soft you can find and let them throw them on the floor and jump off the couch into the pile. You can even purchase cheap pillows and blankets for this very purpose. I have done this twice with them and it has entertained them for hours. Then, they start building forts and houses out of the pillows and blankets, and actually invite you into their play. (I tried jumping off the couch a few times - 50 is not the age to try this).
